Independent Behavior

The system currently in place is the card system.  Each student has 5 cards.  In order, the cards are blue, green, purple, yellow, and red with blue being best behavior.  Students start the day on blue.  For each infraction, the card is flipped.  Verbal/Nonverbal warnings are given prior to a card flip.  As an incentive, we currently have the Up Board in place.  When students are "caught" being good, they have the opportunity to move their pin up the Up Board.  Once their pin reaches 15, they are allowed to select a prize from our many treasure boxes.

Incentives for good behavior:

Additional Free Time

Computer Time

Skip Homework Day

Treats (fruit snacks, candies, etc.)

Treasure Box

Stickers

Erasers

Pencils

Markers

Toys

Special Helper

Choice of Centers

Choice of Reading Chair

Consequences for card flips are as follow:

Blue Card = A = Great Day!  Free Time; Incentive rewarded based on teacher discretion

Green Card = B = Warning

Yellow Card = C = Student/Teacher Conference and Privilege Lost

Yellow Card = D = Note Home

Red Card = F = Phone call home, Discipline Referral to the Administrator, and/or Parent/Teacher Conference

Class Behavior

Ice Cream Sundae Social Contest: The purpose of this contest is for the children to earn an ice cream sundae party by winning points for positive behavior. There will be a jar in the classroom.  When the students are caught being good as a class, a dice will be placed in the jar.  Once the jar is full, the students will then earn an ice cream sundae social.  After the class has earned the Ice Cream Sundae Social, they choose the next class incentive to work towards.  Other class incentives include a Pizza Social, Movie and Popcorn Day, Game Day, and so on.

Dice can be rewarded for the following:
